Local service

Proudly serving New Braunfels

New Braunfels is a town of contrasts—the historic district with its German heritage and limestone buildings, and the newer neighborhoods spreading out toward Canyon Lake and the Comal River. The humid subtropical climate means hot, humid summers and mild winters, which can take a toll on exterior paint, decks, and roofs. The older homes near the downtown square often need careful, preservation-minded work, while the newer subdivisions along Loop 337 and FM 306 call for efficient, modern remodels.

Our crew drives down I-35 to New Braunfels with a full truck—ladders, saws, and materials for whatever the day holds. We work on site, respecting the homeowner's space and schedule. In the historic district, we handle delicate trim and plaster with care; in the newer areas, we keep the job moving with clean, organized workspaces. We always leave the property as tidy as we found it, and we're close enough that a follow-up visit is easy if anything comes up.

Ivy Handyman & Remodeling Services LLC works across San Marcos, TX and the surrounding Hays County area, so a crew is never far from New Braunfels. Call (512) 210-4077 or request a free estimate and we’ll come out and take a look.

What New Braunfels homeowners call us for

Screened Porch Builds

New Braunfels' buggy summers and frequent afternoon storms make screened porches a favorite. We build them to blend with the house, using treated lumber and insect screening that stands up to humidity.

Historic Home Remodeling

The old homes near the Comal River and downtown have thick walls, original woodwork, and quirky layouts. We remodel them with care—preserving what's worth keeping and updating what's worn out.

Interior Painting

Humidity and sun fade interior paint faster than you'd think, especially in rooms with large windows. We prep walls, patch cracks, and apply smooth, even coats that hold up in New Braunfels' climate.

Flooring Installation

From oak hardwood in the historic homes to tile in the newer ones, we install flooring that fits the age and style of the house. We handle subfloor repairs, transitions, and trim for a finished look.

Where we work

Across New Braunfels

Downtown New Braunfels

The area around the plaza and the Comal River is packed with old homes, many over a century old. We do careful repairs, foundation work, and remodels that respect the historical character, often working with the city's preservation rules.

Gruene Historic District

Gruene's limestone cottages and riverfront properties attract both full-time residents and weekend owners. We handle everything from fixing a leaky roof to restoring a wraparound porch, always mindful of the district's unique charm.

Canyon Lake Area

Homes around Canyon Lake are a mix of lake cabins and full-time residences, many on sloped, rocky lots. We build decks that take advantage of the views, repair boat docks, and do storm damage repairs after the big blows.

Permits & local rules in New Braunfels

Historic District Permits

If your home is in a historic district, exterior changes may need approval from the city's historic commission. We'll help you understand what's required, but you should check with the planning department before we begin.

General Building Permits

Structural changes, additions, and most remodels require a permit from the City of New Braunfels or Comal County, depending on where you live. We'll pull the necessary permits and coordinate inspections, but you'll need to know your property's zoning and set back rules.

I am extremely happy with the work that was done. The job included removing a closet and built-in drawers, repainting the room, and matching existing hardwood floors where the closet was removed. They did an excellent job piecing the hardwood together so it blends seamlessly with the original floor. You honestly cannot tell it was ever modified.

John did a great job on our whole house remodel, paint, new bath update, new kitchen, floors, electrical, plumbing, water heater, ext paint, etc. I love the pics he sent for updates along the way. Any changes were spoken about, approved and put in writing. Payment process along the way was easy. Finished product was nice and clean.

We mandated John to build a screened in porch. They provided expert advice on things we did not know. Their proposal was a reasonable price. For the quality of the work, their price is actually exceptional value. They updated us on the work progress almost everyday. The result is fantastic.
